Mooching can be done with and without a motor. The idea is to get the bait down to the fish, without the big flasher or down riggers, that trollers use. Kick the boat motor in and out of gear to adjust line angle to the bait. This technique will catch those giant King salmon and Coho.
And finally, we help you catch fish with light salt water tackle fishing with flies and spinners, jigs for Kings, coho, rockfish, and best of all, Halibut.
The fish are in abundance but the crowds of people are somewhere else. Most days the only other people you will see are the ones in your fishing party. Our normal group size is between two and four fishermen but, we also take up to a maximum of six at any given time.
Our guides are friendly, know the river like the back of their hand, and will outfit you with only top-quality fishing equipment and gear. The banks of our streams offer productive fishing for sockeye salmon, silver salmon, rainbow trout and Dolly Varden. Fishing the streams and lakes offers the ultimate Alaska sportfishing challenge: the chase for the world's largest Alaska king salmon or hard-fighting silver salmon, depending upon the season. In addition to our stream and lake fishing we offer salt water fishing trips and halibut fishing trips in Wrangell.
Don't know the art of flyfishing? We will love the opportunity to teach you...at no extra charge.
Flyfishing poles, hand-tied flies, (I have been tying our own flies for the past eleven years and believe me, these are flies that work!) spin-cast rods and reels with all the hooks you will need are all provided.
Or, if you prefer, we invite you to bring your own "tried and true" rod and reel from home.
Plan to leave the town of Wrangell around 7:30am. Don't forget to eat
a good breakfast and bring a sack lunch.
We provide float jackets for your warmth, comfort and safety.
Usually, within an hour's travel time we will be fishing. Most of the streams that we fish do not require any walking into, we jet boat you right to them.
After a full, relaxing day of fishing, we return to Wrangell around 4:30pm.
